Michelle Duggar does not hold the record for largest family, nor even for the largest American family. My paternal grandfather was one of 18 children and even then it was not a record.

The wife of Feodor Vassilev, a Russian woman, had 69 children in 40 years (1725 to 1765)! They were twins (16 sets), triplets (7 sets), and quads (4 sets). Only two failed to live passed infancy.
